Jerzy Tchórzewski (1928-1999)

Jerzy Tchórzewski (1928-1999)

Studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow.

In 1954, he began teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw.

In 1957, he became a founding member of the Krakow Group.

His surrealist paintings often feature fantastic, imaginary landscapes including cosmic disasters, volcanic eruptions, and falling stars set alongside monsters and almost human figures.

I first came across his paintings at the Muzeum Narodowe we Wrocławiu (National Museum, Wrocław).
